Royal Family LIVE: Meghan Markle's 'fixation' after wedding to Prince Harry

Meghan Markle allegedly had a "fixation" regarding her accommodation following her marriage to Prince Harry, according to a royal commentator. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married in 2018 and were gifted Frogmore Cottage as a wedding gift by the late Queen Elizabeth.

But according to the Times, Harry and Meghan had hoped they would live in Windsor Castle and are reported to have "asked the [late] Queen if living quarters could be made available after their marriage" - something that the late monarch quickly shut down and and "politely but firmly suggested" that they live in Frogmore Cottage instead. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, who is usually critical of the Sussexes, accused the duchess of making "demands" to get better accommodation when living in the UK which came from a "fixation" on trying to have something of similar value to what the Princess of Wales had at the time - who, at the time, was living with Prince William in Kensington Palace apartment 1A. Ms Schofield told GB News: "I think that this was Meghan really kind of fixated on what the Princess of Wales [had] and Meghan trying to have something of similar value. Meghan was a Princess who wanted a castle, and she was denied. And I don't necessarily think that was the wrong decision." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex - who were eventually evicted from Frogmore Cottage in 2023 - have never commented on these claims.
