Fox News hosts openly mock CNN analyst's incredulous reaction to Democrats' crashing popularity

Proper news from Britain - News from Britain you won’t find anywhere else. Not the tosh the big media force-feed you every day!

Fox News hosts have mocked a CNN analyst's sheer disbelief over numbers showing that the Republican Party is closing in on the Democrats on one key voting indicator.

Anchors Charles Hurt, Clay Travis, and Rachel Campos-Duffy discussed a clip of the left-leaning broadcaster's chief data analyst Harry Enten saying he was shocked to see how much the American public believes the GOP cares about them.

Speaking on CNN News Central on Friday, Enten noted that the Democrats and Republicans have been tying on the question of how much voters feel each party cares 'about the needs of people like you' - 'even after the tariff war started'.

He added that it was 'so surprising' because 'Democrats always lead on this question'. 'All of a sudden, the Democrats, who are the party of the people - no more!' Enten told viewers as he crunched the numbers on a screen behind him.

Speaking on Fox & Friends weekend on Saturday, Travis mocked the analyst. 'Every time he addresses the camera it's as if he's delivering a mind-blowing revelation,' the conservative anchor said.

'CNN is actually looking at the numbers and has discovered that the Republican Party is in a better position than it has been in decades, and (they) cannot believe it,' Hurt chimed in.

He noted that the issue of which party cares more about the American people is 'generally regarded as the most important question in politics', adding that Donald Trump has 'completely erased the advantage Democrats historically had'.

Campos-Duffy said the CNN hosts were 'surprised' by the figures because they have been living 'in a bubble' with people who re-enforce their views.

It comes as a CNN poll also showed that the Democrats have hit a brutal record low as party members are split over how to take on President Donald Trump in the first few months of his second term.

Among Americans overall, the Democratic Party's favorability rating stands at just 29 percent - the lowest favorability the party has seen since CNN first started conducting its polling back in 1992.

It also marks a 20-point drop in approval since Trump left office more than four years ago at which time approval of the Democratic party was 49 percent, and a ten-point drop from just before the November election.

At the same time, a new NBC News poll released Sunday similarly found only 27 percent of voters had a positive view of the Democratic Party. That was the lowest positive rating in NBC News polling history dating back to 1990.

The CNN polling released Sunday was conducted just days before ten Senate Democrats joined with their Republican colleagues in a vote to advance a stopgap spending bill to avoid a government shutdown in a move that has deeply divided the party even further.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was among the Senate Democrats to vote with Republicans, infuriating House Democrats including their leadership which remained united against the bill.

Some Democrats are now calling for Schumer to step down as a Democratic Party leader while others have said he should be challenged when he's next up for reelection in 2028.

The record low approval of the Democratic Party has been driven by increased dissatisfaction from within, the CNN polling found.

Just 63 percent of Democrats or Democratic-leaning Independents had a favorable view of their own party, a drop from the 72 who had a favorable view of their party in January and 81 percent when President Biden took office.

Democrats are also torn over the direction of their party should take, the polling found.

Among Democratic-aligned adults, 52 percent said that the party leadership is taking the party in the wrong direction while 48 percent said they are taking the party in the right direction.
