Tyrrell Hatton launched into a furious tantrum during a mid-round meltdown on the second day of the PGA Championship.
After firing his tee shot on the 18th hole into a creek, he embarked on an astonishing outburst, shouting: ‘You piece of s*** ****’.
The flashpoint, which preceded a triple-bogey seven to send him tumbling down from the higher reaches of the leaderboard, was picked up by an on-course microphone.
The Englishman, one of the most combustible figures in the game, had already had one minor wobble earlier in his round, when he threw a ball in the lake after bogeying the 14th.
Hatton’s anger had also spilled over the previous day on the 17th after he pushed his tee shot on the par three too far right. ‘Oh my God,' Hatton was heard saying. 'That is the worst f******...'
The European Ryder Cup star had built on his first-round 68 by carding back-to-back birdies on his first two holes on Friday.

Standing at five under, he was within reach of the lead before his collapse on the 18th – his ninth hole of the day. With three to play, he was one under for the tournament.
Hatton has been called out for his behaviour multiple times in his career, including at the end of last season at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
After the 33-year-old snapped his club in two, Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray said: ‘Oh no, no. It's time for change I'm afraid.
‘What a terrible influence on the next generation. I'm sorry to say it, I'm his biggest supporter as a golfer.
'But just have a look at this. Why? Why would you do that? We've all had our moments but he's having too many of them.’
